botAny and Modelling of Plant Architecture and vegetation - UMR AMAP (Montpellier, France)

AMAP joint research unit (French acronym UMR) is an interdisciplinary laboratory that conducts basic research on plants and plant communities with the aim of predicting ecosystems responses to environmental forcing, in terms of the distribution/conservation of species and biodiversity, crop production, carbon storage in plant biomass, protection of the environment and the provision of ecosystem services.

Ecology of Guianan Forests - UMR EcoFoG (Kourou, French Guiana)

The Joint Research Unit Ecology of Guianan Forests (EcoFoG) gathers AgroParisTech , Inra, Cirad, CNRS, the University of the French West Indies and the University of French Guiana.
The unit belongs to the Laboratoire of excellence Center for the study of biodiversity in Amazonia.

The purpose of the unit is to integrate approaches in ecology and material sciences to:

First, understand the relations between diversity and ecosystem functioning, considering the effects of explotation, anthropic pressure and global change.

Second, impulse innovation to valorize forest ressources, taking into account its large diversity and the particuliar constraints of moist tropical environment.

Intergrative Community Ecology and Tropical Forest Conservation

The Baraloto's Lab research focuses on tropical forest community ecology and conservation.
They work in sites across the Amazon and Guiana Shield seeking to understand the factors controlling plant species distributions, and the impacts of global change on forest structure and biodiversity.

Florida International University - Baraloto Lab

Baraloto lab is broadly interested in the mechanisms underlying patterns of plant species distributions, their relationship with ecosystem structure and function, and their response to resource exploitation and global change. They work primarily in the diverse lowland forests of South America, with principal research sites in French Guiana, Peru and Brazil. Current research focuses on four themes.

Center for the study of biodiversity in Amazonia - Labex CEBA

The Laboratoire of excellence CEBA (Center for the study of biodiversity in Amazonia) promotes innovation in research on tropical biodiversity. It brings together a network of internationally-recognized French research teams, contributes to university education, and encourages scientific collaboration with South American countries.

Bridge project

The BRIDGE project (Bridging Information on Tree Diversity in French Guiana, and a Test of Ecological Theories) brings together researchers from nine different European research groups in tropical ecology, and seeks to improve our knowledge on the various dimensions of tree biological diversity in French Guiana (specific, functional, evolutionary).
